Teaching the Scripture at parish schools of the Poltava diocese at the end of ХІХ  the beginning of the XX century

Abstract

The system of teaching the Scripture as one of the main subjects in the parish schools of the
Poltava at the end of ХІХ ­ the beginning of the XX century is investigated. The importance of
this subject in the educational process is characterized. Attention to the organization of special
courses for teachers of the Scripture by Poltava diocese is paid. The reasons of the gradual
decline of this discipline are traced.
