To the problematic of «preLev» period at the history of L’viv (religious studies excursus)

Abstract

On the base of Western European and Medieval Rus’ written sources the author makes
assumption about probability of foundation of L’viv no later than in XII century. Special
attention is paid to the document, recently published by I. Mytsko, about construction of
Medieval Rus’ cathedral church in L’viv for funds of Svyatopolk II Izyaslavych, Grand
Prince of Kiev. Comparison of this data with report from the Tver Chronicle (about «L’vov
the great», dated by 1241) give us a reason to attribute the foundation of L’viv even before
«pre­Lev» period.
