Spiritual Themis and the Church Brotherhood of the Nativity in Zhovkva (second half of the 17–18 centuries)

Abstract

On the basis of roughing and finishing record books of the protocols of the Lviv spiritual
episcopal court in this article an attempt of the generalization of internal and external conflicts
of the Zhovkva fraternity of the Nativity in the period of the 1680 – 1760’s is done. Also the
unknown judicial records are analyzed; they are connected with the disputes of brothers with
Basilians, who according to the bishop Joseph Shymlanskyy foundation organized a monastery
at the Church of the Nativity.
