Abstract

The image of Catholicism in Ukrainian Historical Idea of Eastern Galicia in 19 th century
is studied. The attitude of historians to the Catholic Church and its role in the Ukrainian
church and religious history are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the views of Ukrainian
historians on the role of the Catholic Church in the formation of the Union of Brest.
