The collection examines the history of the Greek Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant Churches through the prism of documentary sources, the substantive content of liturgical literature, and the prosopographical characteristics of the clergy. It analyzes various aspects of the political, social, legal, and cultural life of the Ukrainian clergy in the past and in the present. The interaction between religion and society, as well as between the Church and the state in wartime conditions, and public expectations of them are explored. A philosophical perspective on religiosity and religion in the context of the functioning of contemporary society is also presented.
The section “Scientific events” reports on a seminar held by the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion and the Ivan Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, while the section “Reviews” familiarizes readers with recent scholarship in religious studies.
Intended for historians, scholars of religion, philosophers, and all those interested in the past of Ukraine.
